Tour de Fat
This photo describes the tenor of my weekend.
This is what happens when a world class cycling circus comes to town. Dr. Awesome returned. I was part of a rainbow. There were 1554s and Squirm Burpee(!). And, then it rained. I love Denver!

The Nibbler
I've been working in my home office all day and I haven't seen our dog Kaya at all. It's a hot one here so I assume she's sleeping in the cool basement. During the course of the day today I've had breakfast and I've had lunch, still no Kaya. As soon as I come back to my chair with a string cheese and I begin to open the package, she is there by my side peering up at me with her huge black, emploring eyes.
I've never known a dog to be as obsessed with string cheese as I am. She has an uncanny radar for hearing the crisper drawer open and the plastic packaging being pulled apart. I always give her a nibble because I'm so impressed with her tenacity, perception and unrelenting gaze.

Telluride and Friends
What a great summer this has been so far. It's been so nice to work from home and to travel and play on the weekends with so little stress.
I'm posting here some photos from our recent trip to Telluride for the Bluegrass Festival. It was rad. David Byrne and the cloudy mountains were just a couple of highlights.
One day I would like to move here and open a dog grooming salon/farm stand.

Senbazuru: 22
Senbazuru is an old Japanese tradition says that those who fold 1,000 paper cranes will be granted one wish. The couple that folds them the year before their wedding will be destined for a life of love.
So far, we have 22 cranes. Some are a little wonky, but with 978 left to go we have plenty of room to improve our technique.

"You Taste Just Like Glitter Mixed with Rock and Roll"
I can't explain my recent fascination with pop culture princesses lately, except that perhaps I need more popping and flossing in my life.

Snake!
Dude...
This snake was found on the trail hiking in Morrison. As you can see, he was huge. Luckily some hikers alerted us to this guy so we had time to put Kaya back on the leash. I hate to think what would have happened had one of us stepped on him!

Olive di Castleventrano
I am in love with these bright green, buttery olives. The only place I've been able to find them in Denver is at our local cheese shop, The Truffle. Castleventrano olives are light, firm and just a wee bit salty. Perfection in the form of an olive!

A Day of Cuteness
This Memorial Day weekend was the rainiest in the history of my mind. To escape the gloomy drippiness of the weather, we went to the Denver Aquarium. It was totally fun-filled with cute creatures like sea horses, jelly fish, and puffer fish. They've also got a huge shark tank with lots of big, toothy monsters swimming around and around. Those were not so cute, but entirely fascinating.
However, there is only so much a grown person can take being in a public place swarming with squealing booger-pickers, so we left the mysterious depths of the aquarium and spent the rest of the afternoon in the warm and germ-free respite of our house.
Did you know you can rent Nintendo games from Blockbuster? Lucky for us, we chose Mario Kart. Why is everything Mario does so gosh darn cute?! This game is rad.
The cuteness continued with a viewing of Australia. The movie got some bad reviews and I can understand why. "Over the Rainbow" was over the top, and why was Drover's name also his occupation? But, that little boy was adorable and I loved him. I also found myself a new nickname--Mrs. Boss. It's perfect!
