I love the smell of eucalyptus. I stepped of a plane this morning in Santa Barbara and the heavenly freshness of eucalyptus enveloped my head, opened my sinuses and calmed my nerves. How can one place smell so heavenly? When I grow up I'm going to plant a eucalyptus tree right outside my bedroom window.

When I was litte (like two or three) we had one of those tall vases that stood on the floor and held cat tails, money plants--transparent flat leaves with a coin-shaped seed in them--and eucalyptus.
I would sit on the floor and rub the cat tails, break open the money plants and just sniff the living hell out of the eucalyptus.
The saddest part of my parent's divorce was losing that vase. I don't know where it went. It's crazy how a scent can mean so much to you.
